URLs

Just like a physical address for a home or business, a website has a unique location name that helps you find it. This address is called a URL, which stands for uniform resource locator.

For example, the KaiOS website URL is:

https://www.kaiostech.com

Browsers

A browser is an application that enables you to view websites. On a KaiOS-powered phone, you can use the Browser App.

Simply type the URL in the address bar, and click submit.

Opening Links

Links, short for hyperlinks, are objects you can click to reveal another website, page, document, etc. They come in text and image forms.

You may see a URL used as a link, but these can also appear as specific text or images. If you see the words, “click here” or blue text with underlining, there’s a good chance that it’s a link.

In this page you can find an example of a Wikipedia page about the Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The words in dark blue are titles that are “linked” to full articles. If you clicked on any of those blue titles, the whole article would appear.
